Post your interpretations below...
I am going to guess that the fact that we can see the reflection of the parts means that it is on top of ice.
Hey everyone,
My theory is that this is going to be a game piece in the upcoming competition. I'm guessing that the robots will have to pick up these pieces and fit them together or into a wall or structure. My guess is based off the fact that there are notches at the ends of each of the poles. These notches are just like the locking mechanisms on foldable tents/ sukkot (the ones where you slide the leg out and the little button-like notches fit into the hole on the other part of the leg). Anyways, this leads me to believe that these are like puzzle pieces and are going to be fit into something or each other. As for the color of the translucent piece, that is going to have something to do with scoring (as color usually has something to do with points acquired). So...thats my guess. Any other opinions?
wait.... what the..?! Why do I only get two stars and why am I a junior member?! Sad
Good thought, so you mean a game like 2005.
okay, so I have been reading the thread on chief delphi, and it made me notice a shadow, which if you look carefully, is not a part of the assembly itself. This leads me to believe that the entire field, or, at least, a greater assembly, was created on autodesk, and all but this part and this shadow are hidden. Does anyone have ideas regarding the shadow, and what that makes the part as a whole?
also, with regards to the color, it is just smoked lexan
Last year we got a picture of a moon fish to hint to us that the game was lunacy. It wasn't really helpful and just hinted to us the name of the game, not even a part of it. Therefore I think that this picture shouldn't be over analyzed. Its a piece of something, like a building block that can be used to make many different things. Maybe in the competition we will have to take something apart and then put it together differently or something like that. Honestly, from what I know, FIRST wouldn't give us a picture of a part of our future robot, I think just the idea of the picture should be taken seriously.

ps. I remember last year we looked really closely at the fish picture and found that there was backwards writing on it that we could see if we flipped the picture and put it in different lights and stuff, but that just ended up being a bad copy from a scanner or something. (it was a double sided textbook) so I don't know how much we should analyze the reflection and shadow.....just saying.

Looks like the yellow rectangles could be where a human player stands. Doesn't look like a seat. Maybe the first game piece is something that the human player attaches to the robot during the competition.

Very vague as always
Interesting idea, I was thinking the yellow things were just carts that people place their robots on. But a pad for the human player also makes sense. We are currently thinking that this is the side of the field, but what if it is the middle of the field and the robot has to go over the wall or go through the diamond plate or something like that.
Okay, so when you look at past fields, this is the same side rail, but, the important part about this hint is the floor. This tells us the surface we will be driving on, dark, rigid, all over much different from the slick regalyth from last year.
